The lockdown had been painful – physically and mentally – and coupled with the added stress at work, I had resorted to comfort eating like there is no tomorrow. My weight had ballooned by over 7-8 kgs in 6 months and was close to hitting the triple-figure mark of the wrong kind. I found out about Abhimanyu and his fitness consulting program while casually browsing on LinkedIn one day. After gathering more details from his website and connecting on a 1×1 to assuage all my initial concerns, we start our partnership from Jan’21 onwards.

Since then, I can confidently say that apart from just feeling physically fitter, I also feel more confident about my food choices and how those impact my body. One of my key concerns when starting off was the cartilage damage in both my knees that made it difficult to do certain exercises like jogging, squatting, climbing stair etc. Abhimanyu incorporated these restrictions into the program that he designed for me, ensuring that I could slowly build up the strength and mobility in my knees while not deviating from the overall goal of weight loss.

Having worked with Abhimanyu for four months now, my weight has reverted back to what it was pre-pandemic, although there is still a long way to go 😊 Hopefully we can continue partnering together to further my fitness goals. For anyone who is wondering if fitness consulting works or not, I can assure you that it does; particularly if you are lucky to work with someone knowledgeable, motivated and supportive like Abhimanyu.

Motivator, Coach, Friend, Counsellor… There are many hats Abhimanyu wears. We started as friends and now he is my coach for both Physical and Mental fitness. Abhimanyu’s approach is holistic, it is not only about building physical strength, but also about diet, lifestyle and way of living. Abhi started training me for strength using bodyweight which I can do any time, with no stress of going to the gym. Next, he worked on improving my diet. He guided and helped me design my own diet plans which are easy to follow, and always had a simple alternative if things didn’t work out as planned.

I was having severe wrist and elbow pain, Abhimanyu analysed the root cause of this pain. He explained that strengthening the scapula muscles and improving the position of my shoulders can help reduce the pain. He planned exercises to build strength focusing on my scapula and shoulders, which in turn reduced my wrist and elbow ache.

I can definitely feel the change in my thought process about fitness and diet. Abhimanyu designs workout based on your ability and slowly pushes you to do better. He engages in regular catch-ups as a Coach and has a very professional approach. Abhi is committed to bringing in a change in his clients and works with them to achieve their fitness goals. I started my journey with Abhimanyu in Jan 2020. To understand the context, it is important to understand my situation at the beginning. For the past 10 years, I haven’t led a healthy lifestyle. In fact, I even had a hard time convincing myself on the logic of being healthy. I used to drink like it’s nobody’s business. Eat tons of Pizza and not exercise. I became lazy and really started enjoying it.

What I needed was more than a health coach. No health coach can resolve such mental issues. With Abhimanyu, it started off with a casual conversation and extended to a partnership. He’s obviously super healthy and believes in all things natural. No crash diets. No hardcore unsustainable exercise. The best part is his ability to understand the person and his needs. He carefully started breaking down my habits one by one. Late nights. Binge eating. Lazy days. Everything was addressed. Post that a diet and exercise plan was made which was carefully curated keeping in mind my training needs.

I can confidently say that what I’ve gone through is a mindset change. Body feels lighter. I feel better and more energetic throughout the day. I’m able to work longer. No constant pains. I’m even able to exercise harder which helps with the hormones (and ego) a lot. Thank you for your guidance.

I have been training with Abhi on and off for about 2 years. I never thought that I could ever be motivated to get out of the bed and get to the gym. Having never done any sort of “exercise” in my life, I was very susceptible to Give Up. The best part for me was the slow start with small sets of simple exercises. Abhi discussed technical details of the stress that a new exercise routine could cause and the importance of correct form from day 1. With a simple low-intensity routine that progressed gradually, I could literally see my stamina building. In a month or so, I gradually increased to medium intensity, and then my body would demand extra reps on its own as I got stronger.

Another very important part of our discussion was food intake with Abhi’s favourite quote at the time being fat loss = calorie in – calorie out where calorie out includes calories burnt in exercise. With no major restrictions to the diet (apart from processed food and portion size) I simply followed the above and started my weight loss journey. With a very low muscle mass due to lack of exercise, my weight loss was initially slow due to added muscle mass but I felt much lighter and lot more energetic.

The only downturn of the routine was that I had to buy new clothes as I stopped fitting in my regular size, but I am not complaining..! 🙂
